Who this is for

Quad is built for University of Toronto students. Depending on where you’re joining from, creating an account may require a utoronto.ca email address. You’re responsible for keeping your account secure and for what happens under it — one account per person, and the information you give Quad (your name, program, college) should be accurate.

Acceptable use

Using Quad, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or impersonate another student, a club, or Quad itself.
• Scrape, automate, or bulk-collect anything from Quad — including other students’ profiles.
• Circumvent a privacy choice someone else has made — sharing a screenshot of a private conversation outside it, or working around the fact that read receipts and typing indicators are off, is a violation even though no code stops you from trying.
• Use Quad to sell access to yourself or to another student, or to run anything resembling a directory of students outside the product.
• Post anything for a real club or organization that its own account holders didn’t write or approve.

Violating this can get a listing removed, a feature turned off for your account, or your account suspended. See Safety for how to report a problem and what happens next.

What you post

You own what you write — a profile prompt, a message, a marketplace listing. Using Quad, you give us the license we need to show it to the audience you chose for it and to operate the product around it; nothing more, and we don’t sell it or license it to anyone else.

Events and clubs

Event details on Quad come from a mix of official university listings, club submissions, and public posts we’re given permission to read. We do our best to keep them accurate, but a room, a time, or whether something is still happening can change on the organizer’s end without Quad knowing — when a detail is missing, Quad says so rather than guessing at it, and you should treat the organizer’s own listing as the source of truth. Quad never writes a description, a meeting time, or a claim on behalf of a real club that the club itself didn’t provide.

Marketplace

Marketplace listings are arrangements between students. Quad is not a party to any sale, does not handle payment for a listing, and doesn’t verify or guarantee what a listing describes — use the same judgment you would with any exchange between strangers.

Sponsored listings

Discover and Marketplace carry a small number of paid slots, mostly from businesses near campus rather than from campus organizations. Each one is labelled “Paid · off campus” in words, not a badge you have to learn, and it is drawn deliberately unlike a real listing: no fit percentage, no confidence mark, none of the signals the rest of the product uses to tell you how good something is. Someone paying us is not a judgement about the thing, so it is never dressed as one.

Slots are sold one week at a time by sealed auction. Everyone who wins a given week pays the same price, so what you see is not ordered by who paid most. Nothing about you — your program, your interests, your timetable, your ratings — is used to decide which paid slots you see; an advertiser buys a week, not an audience.

Ending your account

You can stop using Quad any time, and can ask us to delete your account by writing to privacy@quad.to. Quad may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or the community guidelines.

No warranty

Quad is offered as-is, as a project built for and by University of Toronto students, without a warranty that it will always be available, correct, or uninterrupted. We fix what breaks as quickly as we reasonably can, but we don’t promise it won’t.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top will move. Continuing to use Quad after a change means you’ve accepted it.
