Safety
Quad pairs you with people you haven’t met yet — a stranger every week through Connect, a new face in a circle you joined with a code. That only works if it’s actually safe, so here is what Quad does about it and what to do if something goes wrong.
The basics
- Be who you say you are. Quad isn’t anonymous — your name and program are attached to your account, and impersonating someone else, a club, or an organization is a violation of the terms.
- No harassment, hate, threats, or unwanted sexual attention — toward another student, in a shared circle, or in a group conversation.
- Respect the privacy choices other people have made. Someone keeping their read receipts off, their profile unlisted, or their RSVP private is a decision, not an oversight — don’t work around it, and don’t screenshot a private conversation into a public one.
- If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop. Continuing after that is harassment regardless of intent.
How Connect is built to be safer
Group Connect is opt-in and can be paused whenever you want. Quad forms groups of three to six students around a randomly chosen activity. Conversations stay in group chats; individual direct messages and profile replies are unavailable.
For an in-person meetup with your new group: meet somewhere public and busy on or near campus first, tell a friend where you’re going, and trust your read of the conversation over the sunk cost of having agreed to meet — declining or not showing up to a meetup has no consequence on Quad.
Circles
A circle is joined with a six-character code someone shares with you — opening or scanning an invitation does not make you a member, and you choose whether to join. If a circle stops being what you signed up for, you can leave it any time from its member list.
Reporting a problem
If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can always leave a conversation, pause Group Connect, or simply stop responding — nobody is notified when you do either of those.
To report harassment, a safety concern, or abusive behaviour toward you or someone else, write to safety@quad.to with as much detail as you can — who was involved, roughly when, and what happened. Include an address where you can be reached if you want a response. The same address works for reporting an event or club listing that looks wrong, misleading, or fraudulent.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact Campus Police or 911 first — Quad is not a substitute for either.
Enforcement
A confirmed violation can lead to content being removed, a feature being turned off for an account, or the account being suspended or removed entirely, depending on what happened. We may follow up on a report when more information is needed, while keeping another student’s private details confidential.
